an 85th birthday.

My Nan turned 85 on Saturday. She is an absolutely incredible woman who I wholeheartedly look up to. Her and my Grandad have known each other since they were 5 years old. Married for 60 years they inspire me in so many ways. Having moved down to Surrey last year I don't get to spend as much time with them as I used to so every moment with them is precious.

Heading across to Southend with Mark, my cousin, her husband and little Ava, we began the day in Essex grazing at a place on the beach before having a short walk on the sand and then driving over to my grandparents house for an afternoon birthday tea. This is the only house I have known them to live in and the decor hasn't changed for as long as I can remember. It's full of childhood memories for me. Every Sunday we would visit as a family after having spent the day on the beach. My Nan would lay on tea and toast with lashings of butter followed by all sorts of cakes and homemade meringues feeding my brothers and sisters and I until we burst. A lot of good times have been had in that house and I tried to capture the Saturday afternoon when 4 generations got together to celebrate this special lady's birthday.
